Abstract

This research report presents mobile phone shipment volume forecast and recent quarter review of major Taiwanese contract manufacturers. The report includes major contract manufacturers' shipment volume and value, ASP, manufacturer volume ranking, customer ranking, shipment by maker, and price trend. Also provided are shipment breakdowns by system technology, operating system, display, panel size, and production location. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with Taiwanese mobile phone contract manufacturers. The report finds that the industry's contract manufacturing shipment volume has witnessed modest growth in the third quarter of 2013 owing mainly to the resolution of yield issue of iPhone 5S. Apple's iPhones continued to take the largest share in Taiwanese makers' shipment, followed by Sony and BlackBerry in the third quarter of 2013. The Taiwanese contract manufacturers' mobile phone shipment volume in the fourth quarter of 2013 is anticipated to have spurred thanks to the advanced stock replenishment for iPhone 5S toward year-end. However, it is anticipated that shipment volume of mobile phone contract manufacturers will slip considerably in the first quarter of 2014 following the peak season and due in part to the termination of iPhone 5 and 4 production.
